This stunning 2 storey extension plus garage conversion and landscaping project was completed in collaboration with Archiwildish Architects. The build and interiors are finished to an extremely high specification and there are many little design features which were requested by the client and add a really stylish flair to this property.
As with all things, preparation is key. The first phase of this project was to deconstruct the old conservatory and prepare the ground works ready for the footings. We also partially demolished the garage to remove the garage door and make way for the new glazing and reconfiguration of the space. It wasn't long before we were at height with the brickwork on the 2 storey extension and the scaffold was brought in ready for the upper levels.
The lower floor of the extension is a continuation of the ground floor living room and created a vast open seating and entertainment area. For the interior of the ground floor extension, we left the steel work exposed to create an attractive industrial style finish. We also added a vaulted space finished in wood acoustic boarding in preparation for the addition of the clients advanced speaker system. The wonderful team at Strictly Flooring laid a stunning solid wood parquet floor in this area which really brought the room together.
The upstairs of the extension features a walk-in dressing room finished with floor to ceiling grey custom grey units. The walk-in dressing room then leads on to the galleried bedroom area with its vaulted ceiling and large glazed section. This bedroom has a real wow factor to it with streams of natural light plus little features which add character. In addition, we also created a surprisingly spacious en-suite. The en-suite is very slick! With its black shower tray, illuminated mirror, designer sink and heated towel rack this room is luxurious and modern. The fixtures and fittings are finished in chrome which really stand out against the luxury white porcelain tiles.
The garage added a wonderful amount of space to this home and was perfect for conversion to a dining room area. We added a stunning roof lantern which really opened up the space as well as letting in loads of natural light. We added more acoustic panelling to this room so it flowed with the rest of the downstairs extension. The wooden acoustic boarding served an additional purpose - to disguise the additional storage space we put behind it! This is a great way to incorporate that all-important storage without losing the designer feel.
Moving outside, the extension was finished with a white render with a striking blue brick insert. This really enhances the building - completely transforms it! The back of the house was also treated to Coastline Composite Cladding which looks incredible.
The rear of the property was landscaped with a breathtaking black granite slab with black pointing which looks ultra-modern and elevates the whole area.
The property looks completely different from when we started and the clients are over the moon with the end result - as are we! Every aspect of the design has added value to the way the clients enjoy their home and the little features add so much character to the home whilst creating a super stylish and designer feel throughout. As always, a huge thanks to our clients who kept us in a steady flow of tea and snacks - always very welcomed! Furthermore, a big thank you to the clients for their ongoing support even during minor delays caused by Covid. Archiwildish provided yet another stellar design, it is always a pleasure to work with them. Thanks also go to LGW Electrics, AM Home Improvements for the glazing, Keith Allen Roofing, RSSweeten Plumbing and Strictly Flooring for their collaboration on this project. Last but never least, the entire KSW Developments team for once again delivering an outstanding and high end product.
