Transforming homes is what we do! This project in Stratford Upon Avon was a brilliant transformation, one we are really proud of. This job began as a relatively straight forward single storey kitchen extension and garage conversion but the final results were really amazing!
We began at the rear of the property, demolishing the existing conservatory which had seen better days! We then deconstructed the remaining rear extension which linked to the existing garage. New footings were dug allowing for the start of brickworks for the new extension. We were lucky with weather conditions and this stage of the project was ahead of schedule. The new extension was designed to make good use of natural light so we left space for a large window and a set of 3.5m bifolds!
The clients requested a vaulted roof to the extension which suited the design beautifully and allowed us to add one of our favourite features - Velux roof lights! We love how roof lights look and the fact that they really allow natural light to flood the space all year around...even on rainy days. We installed 3 velux roof lights which really added to the wow factor of the vaulted ceiling.
We opened up the existing lounge area by extending entryways which gives the feel of an open plan configuration and makes the space feel spacious and airy. Once this aspect of the project was completed to the plasterboard stage we began work on the garage conversion. Converting often under utilised areas such as garages is a brilliant way to improve the way you experience your home and add value to your property. In this instance, the garage was converted into an office at the front with an additional WC and utility room to the rear. We also managed to design the space in such a way that we were able to retain a portion of the conversion for storage - You can never have enough storage space!
All new electrics were added throughout as well as shiny new plumbing. Our team of carpenters then got to work fitting this stunning Wren kitchen and utility - sleek, modern and functional.
Returning to the living room, we added more electrics to the space and replastered the whole area, giving the room a whole new lease of life. Once the new kitchen was installed, it was time to decommission the old kitchen at the front of the house and create a snug/second reception room. As with many projects, the further they progress, the more inspired the client becomes and in this instance the client asked us to remodel the existing upstairs bathroom, adding a touch of luxury. New electrics, radiators and doors were also added upstairs to spruce up the space as well as improve the heating and airflow.
Then came the hallway and stairs after some major structural works we took all the walls down which closed this dark area off and added new handrails and spindles really opening this area up we then laid the hallway and added a new front porch area.
By the end of the job there was not a room in the house which did not receive the KSW Developments treatment. We also added new anthracite grey windows throughout the property supplied and fitted by AM home improvements.
Overall this job went smoothly with only minor delays at points due to Covid and suppliers but our wonderful clients were incredibly understanding and we were able to adjust our schedule to work on other aspects whilst certain sections were delayed. The finished home looks incredible and the clients were really happy with the results! Just how we like it!
I would just like to personally say a huge thankyou to our lovely clients for their hospitality in keeping the KSW team in tea and snacks especially when it was cold. Most of all, i would thank them for their patience during a trying time for the industry and for being well organised when it came to deciding the finishing touches - which on any project is very important and it is always a pleasure working with clients who are enthusiastic and know what they want. We look forward to returning in the warmer, drier weather to render the remaining frontage (as an added extra) Completing this home's transformation and making it truly a desirable property in a lovely part of stratford. Big thanks to the KSW team of trades who without you we wouldn’t be able to give our clients their dream homes.
