Garage Conversion & Refurbishment in Shipston-on-Stour

What began as a simple garage conversion in Shipston-on-Stour turned into a major refurbishment project of the ground floor of the property!

With a sizable garage which was being under-used, and the need for more space in this family home, the logical step was to convert the garage into an additional bedroom with an en-suite. Due to the layout of the garage we also extended the front porch to bring the whole property in line and make use of as much space as possible.

We began by creating an additional wall on the front of the garage which would feature a sizable window to allow for as much natural light to enter the bedroom as possible. We then took on the task of insulating the inside of the garage and installing all new electrics and plumbing for the en-suite. A dividing wall was constructed to separate the bedroom from the en-suite and the walls and floors were prepped. The next step was to install the en-suite. A striking grey stone tile was selected for the shower area which made the room feel bigger than it was due to the oversized horizontal tiles. A toilet, sink and full shower cubicle were installed creating a small but luxurious modern en-suite. The bedroom was plastered and lighting was installed followed by neutral wall finishes.

Once this aspect of the project was completed, we were tasked with reconfiguring the living space at the property in Shipston-on-Stour. A dividing wall was installed to separate the living room linking to the dining room. This created a corridor leading to the kitchen once the rear wall was removed. This simple reconfiguration made the lower floor of the home flow better as well as modernising this traditional home.

With a young family in the home, safety was of utmost importance and the stairwell had seen better days so we installed an all new spindle staircase which was sturdy and attractive!

In the living room we installed a log burner which was a beautiful addition to the family room. Not only does it look striking but it also warms the room cheaply and effectively. Plus there's something very comforting about having an open fire, whilst the log burner allows for complete safety for the family. We finished off the log burner with a smart slate hearth which brings the look together.

This job made such a difference to this family home and our clients were very pleased with the end result as were we!
