This single storey extension in Stratford-Upon-Avon is an attractive space which presents a fusion of sleek, modern elegance and a warm, homely, country feel.
The additional space gained from the garden does not feel lost as the outdoor space continues into the new kitchen/living area through large bifold doors and some of the most show stopping skylights we have installed! The Shaker style kitchen space boasts ample, creative storage, and a luxurious feel with bright granite worktops and chrome accents setting-off the soft grey colour scheme. Maintaining a modern feel, a striking, rich blue central island adds drama with a natural solid wood top which doubles as a breakfast bar.
One aspect our client wanted to emphasise with this extension, was a light airy feel which does not compromise on style, this has been achieved beyond expectation! The combination of the sky lights, bifold doors and the creative lighting featuring spot lights and ultra-cool edison bulb downlights creates a wonderful ambiance at any time of the day or night.
The living space organically emerges from the kitchen and maintains many of the luxurious styling elements with wooden accessories, furnishings reflective of the colour pallet used throughout and elegant flooring drawing the spaces together. The matte, vertical radiators add a dramatic, almost sculptural, aspect to the space and are as much an artistic feature as the pictures lining the walls.
The impact of the doors being fully opened, revealing the garden space is spectacular and showcases the contemporary patio laid to bridge the garden and the indoor areas. Beyond the impressive finish of this extension, practicalities have been considered to maintain the space for years to come. The brickwork on the outside of the extension was carefully selected to be in keeping with the rest of the property so the extension will mature and acclimate with the whole property. As the extension contained a flat roof and pyramid skylights, drainage was a key consideration, in-built drainage was installed to manage runoff and coping stones placed to emphasise the bold lines of extension build.
This project has been a really creative process for us as we have worked together to ensure the internal and external build as well as all of the finishes from the floor to the ceiling were in keeping with the interior design vision of the client. I think all will agree that it has paid off and the space is an outstanding example of the impact that an extension can have on the feel of a home.
