The completion of any major project is a point of pride and satisfaction for us at KSW Developments, but this major transformation in Long Marston was particularly gratifying.
To begin this project, the open porch area was enclosed to allow for more usable space which we achieved by building up the brick and block work to window height. Our in-house carpenter expertly crafted an oak frame for the porch using traditional methods allowing for a completely bespoke approach to the build.
Windows and a new composite front door were supplied by AM Home Improvements and really add a sense of style to the exterior of the property. The windows are a flush casement design which means that external welds are not required, this alongside the finish and styling of the motif make for a sleek and contemporary finish. Finished in a soft, warm grey which is mirrored in the UPVC cladding, these stylised details bring a modern, light and airy feeling to the property.
It was not only the external façade of the project which received the KSW treatment, internally we removed two walls to create an open-plan space in the living/dining area. To continue the open-plan experience, we replaced the dining room window with french doors which give direct access to the back garden both physically and visually. Pursuing this further, two windows were cut into the surrounding space behind the woodstove fireplace allowing the light and views from the garden to fill the living room. By installing the windows we were able to not only change the feel for the space by bringing the outdoors inside, but we were also able to fashion a real design feature of the wall as well as creating a feeling of more space. Space and freedom were a real feature to the design of this project, so with this in mind we added an internal set of french doors to create a feeling of symmetry and flow to the living area.
Following on from the sleek finish of the new features, the entire space was fastidiously re-plastered to a high standard. This was complemented by the installation of ultra-modern chrome down-lighters, sockets and switches throughout the ground floor adding a contemporary and luxurious element to the space.
Finally, the KSW team undertook tiling throughout the living spaces and a new karndean floor was installed in the living room and study to bring the whole look together. The tiles and flooring combined with the other features of the project create a luxurious and visually stunning end result. This project posed some creative opportunities for us at KSW Developments and the enterprise as a whole surpassed both our expectations and those of the clients. We are certain that the clients will have many years of enjoyment from their beautifully redesigned home.
