This project began as a garden room extension but soon took on a life of its own. The end result was astounding!
Wanting to create extra space and an open and airy room for the whole family to enjoy, a garden room style extension was designed for this property. After the area was prepped and the ground cleared we began to dig the footings for the new extension. We were met with a little bit of a challenge. Due to the ground composition and some interestingly placed trees we had to relocate part of the garden and take the footings down to 2.5 meters! After this initial bump in the project, it wasn't long before the concrete was poured and the building of the extension could take place. We were lucky with the weather in the early stages of this project and managed to get up to over-site height pretty quickly.
This Bridgetown project was the very first new project of 2020 and so the second phase of the build was interrupted by the global Covid-19 pandemic. Not to be deterred, adjustments were made to our working practices and additional PPE was supplied to the KSW team. This meant that once we were given the green light from the Government we were able to back to what we do best whilst ensuring the highest levels of safety for our crew, our clients and our communities. There were some delays with materials due to the pandemic but with such a large project, we were able to work on different aspects of the build whilst awaiting detailed materials/parts.
The garden room extension is truly a sight to behold. Its sweeping vaulted ceilings make a statement - working at those heights was well worth it to see the stunning ceiling come together. We installed 5 velux roof lights, measuring a whopping 1m by 1m! Not only does this size look impressive and balance out the vaulted ceiling, but they mean that the whole garden room extension will be flooded with natural light throughout the year - even in the classic british overcast drizzle!
In the front end of the extension, a wet room was installed. So as to not interrupt the flow and light of the garden room, the full height of the space was utilised with more windows placed in the upper part of the wall between the wet room and the main garden room. This allows for a really gorgeous architectural feel whilst allowing the natural light in, at the same time maintaining the privacy required of the wet room.
The designer bathroom furniture and fittings finished with white metro tiles and grout, plus the pop of colour with the blue tiled alcove, creates a really special bathroom which is incredibly stylish, modern, elegant and practical! We love an alcove, it's the perfect way to store all your products neatly without the need of unsightly caddies and it keeps the bathroom area clean and tidy...plus it gives us high-end spa vibes too!
A wet room is a great way to add value to your property and also a perfect way to enhance the way we use our living space. The location of this wet room means that after a day in the garden or out and about, you can clean off and refresh in a stunning designer wetroom without having to walk through the main house and upstairs to the family bathroom. It is always a wonderful convenience to have downstairs facilities, particularly useful when entertaining guests.
The work on the extension garden room and wet room was getting to its final stages of electrics and finer details when the client approached us requesting that we take on the redesign of their kitchen! We of course accepted the challenge and jumped into action to create the stylish and functional designer kitchen that the clients had always dreamed of. We added beautiful vertical radiators which look stylish but are also space saving and highly efficient.
We created a really sleek and stylish kitchen with added features such as bottle cupboards and some of the most gorgeous bottle green tiles. Tall cabinetry in a modernised shaker style creates a really contemporary feel with a nod to classic design. Chrome fixtures are highlighted by the duel ovens and silver spotlight housing. The new kitchen was a complete transformation from the original kitchen, we even found some very old layers of - pretty interesting - wallpaper whilst we were decommissioning the old kitchen. The layout has not significantly changed in the new kitchen but the clever choices for cabinets and drawers makes much better use of the space. The pale cream coloured kitchen is bright and modern and looks really striking - ready to enjoy for many years to come.
After creating such a beautiful space across much of the downstairs of the property, it only seemed right that we addressed the dining room. We renovated the space bringing it in line with the designer aesthetic throughout the kitchen, garden room and downstairs bathroom/wet room.
This project was an absolute dream to work on, there may have been challenges along the way but the transformation was truly inspiring. The clients were wonderful throughout and as always the KSW tradies and partners did an amazing job, finishing everything to the highest standard - even down to the painstakingly neat plumbing and wiring!
